Saipan is a beautiful place. It has it all. It isn't the best place to fish, dive, explore or carouse, but it is the only place in the Marianas that you can do all four! The Grotto is a karst hole the cliffline of Northeastern Saipan that leads out to the ocean by way of three submarine tunnels. For divers like Eric, it is a walk in the back yard, but can be deadly for inexperienced divers. Unfortunately, like many adventures, the more dangerous it is, the more fun it is. With high surf and currents, it turns into a "Washing Machine" and throws you around like a rag doll.
There are many cool hikes on Saipan, but I am usually too busy sweating to take pictures. I promise get some shots up here soon. For starters, here is a WWII bomb from the jungles of Saipan (this one from Tanapag). If you have a good eye you can find really good ones. My brother even found one...
