Home Sweet Home

There is no place like home.

Boonie Stompin'

Hiking or "Boonie stomping" is an addictive hobby on Guam.   There are some real adventures out there.  I will try to keep a decent collection here of reviews of some of the better hikes around Guam.

Asgadao Cave

The petroglyphs of these walls tell the story of the meeting of two ancient Chamorro chiefs:  Chief Gadao of Inarajan  and Chief Malaguana of Tumon.

Way easy hike, so it is good for beginners and social activities with relatives.

Sella Bay

This is a pretty good hike and is well trodden.  the best part about it is that the trailhead leads to at least 10 different hikes.

This is one of 4 Spanish bridges left on Guam from the Spanish occupation.  It is also a pretty cool place to eat lunch.

Orote Point

There goes Dad again...  This is not much of a hike, but an awesome swim.  Unfortunately it requires base access, and that means that you can rarely get on, especially with the newly enhanced Military activity and  Orote Landfill mitigation going on now.

If you get the chance, it is a poor man's trip to the Palau Rock Islands.

Atilling Acho

This is the volcanic origin of Guam.  The basalt here is as old as 35-43 million years.

This is Steve killing some time before our wicked descent into the Cetti jungle.  The brush is thick from burn growth and we both recommend going in from Cetti Falls trail.

I lost a steak dinner on that one...

Talofofo Caves

My favorite "cool" hike.  No sun, just lots of flashlight action.  Not very macho according to hard core spelunkers like Paul Taylor, but plenty good for caving neophytes like myself.
